Walla
Walla University is a fully-accredited comprehensive college that
enrolls more than 1,900 students in liberal arts and professional
programs. The university, founded in 1892 by the Seventh-day Adventist
Church, seeks in its mission to foster the unique gifts of every
individual within this community of faith and discovery.
The
University offers six bachelor's degrees in more than 42 areas of study,
six master’s degrees, an associate of science degree with five
concentrations and graduate programs in education, biology, psychology
and social work. In recent graduating classes, the most popular
undergraduate majors were in the areas of business, health professions,
engineering and education.
Located
in the Walla Walla Valley of southeast Washington, Walla Walla
University also operates a School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon, and a
marine station near Anacortes, Washington. A graduate social work
program is offered in Missoula and Billings, Montana.
Walla
Walla University is currently completing construction on a new
Administration Building, the largest of several campus revitalization
projects undertaken in the last five to six years.
In 2005
Walla Walla University undertook its first financing with the
Authority. The financing was for $3,963,000 with a net interest cost of
5.4% through the Streamlined Tax-Exempt Placement (STEP) program. The
proceeds of the bond were used to refinance a taxable loan for the
construction, furnishing and equipping of the Mountain View Apartments
and to finance other capital improvements on the University’s campus.
