Saint Martin’s University (the “University” or “Saint Martin’s”) is
a master’s comprehensive institution offering undergraduate and
graduate-level programs. The University’s 21 majors and six graduate
programs span the liberal arts, business, education and engineering.
A Catholic, Benedictine university, Saint Martin’s welcomes 1,250
students from many ethnic and religious backgrounds to their main
campus in Lacey, Washington and 650 more to five extension campuses.
Extension campuses at Fort Lewis Army Post, McChord Air Force Base,
Centralia Community College, Tacoma Community College, and Olympic
College in Bremerton offer a limited selection of degree programs in
evening and weekend study for military and civilian students. Master
degree and teacher certification/endorsement programs are also
available at Fort Lewis, McChord, and Centralia.
Saint Martin's is one of 18 Benedictine colleges and universities in
the United States and Canada, and the only one west of the Rocky
Mountains. The monks of the Roman Catholic Order of Saint Benedict
established the University in 1895. Saint Martin's became a
four-year, accredited, baccalaureate-granting institution in 1938
and became co-educational in 1965. The official name of the school
was changed from Saint Martin’s College to Saint Martin’s University
in 2005 to more accurately reflect the institution’s nature and
recognize the wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs
available to students.
The University has issued debt through the Authority on four
occasions, most recently with Series 2007. This bond issue refunded
outstanding debt of the University.
The total par value of debt issued by the University through the
Authority is $53,142,000. |
